Well, we are still meeting in the old DHS building, and wish to extend our heart-felt gratitude to the Wilmes family for making the facility available to us.
Work on a new facility is in-progress and will continue after the holiday.
The final Diaconate and Board meeting of 2009 was eventful. New board members for 2010 were approved and plans for the new facility were further developed. More later...

First Christian Church has purchased land to start building our new home!
We are pleased to report that we are the proud new owners of approximately four acres of "prime undeveloped land" on Park Lane just south of Tamarack. Gods blessings have provided us with more than we could have hoped for and we must say that we are very excited!
Plans for a building are in-progress as our building committee works with architects, planners, and other professionals to hatch a plan that matches our mission as a church, and enhances our community.
The rough projection for building completion is fourth quarter 2009. Certainly there are many contingencies attached to that projection- so it's "soft" at best for now.
Click here to see exactly where our new home will be located, and check back often, as we'll be featuring the building and development process in a special section of the website soon!
On Thursday June 19, 2008, our church building and campus at First Christian Church of Altus was lost to a terrible fire. The damages were complete and our beloved church building was reduced to a pile of rubble. Needless to say this is a devastating loss.
There were no injuries. It is all-but-confirmed that the cause of the fire was a lightning strike, either directly to the church, or to the adjacent electric power service pole and line. At approximately 3:00 AM the fire was ignited by a lighting strike at the East end of the sanctuary. The fire spread quickly, and it wasn't long until the entire complex was engulfed by the flames.
